Shin Yuu – Greenwood Ave

Came here for Japanese buffet to celebrate his birthday with a group of close friends.

Smoked Duck, Tuna Belly Sushi & Shin Yuu Special Aburi Sushi

Sashimi Moriwase – Consist of salmon, tuna, king fish, swordfish & octopus. We should have ordered in smaller quantity. There’s this white tuna which we don’t appreciate. We preferred the salmon & swordfish.

Shin Yuu Special Sakana Chiizu – Dory fish with cheese. Don’t really have much taste of the cheese despite the creamy texture.

Shin Yuu Special Makimono – Unagi with avocado.

Chawanmushi with salmon roe – Smooth, silky & tasty!

Soft Shell Crab Handroll

Grilled Prawns

Hotate Mentaiko – Grilled scallop.

Grilled Squid – There’s an overwhelming ginger taste. Otherwise it’s quite good.

Buta Bara Kosho Yaki – Pork Belly with black pepper.

Shishamo – Pregnant fish.

Ebi Miso Mayo Yaki – Prawn with egg, miso and mayonnaise sauce. The prawns are big & succulent. We reordered this dish a few times. Nice!

Gyu Karubi – Beef short ribs with sweet soy sauce. I find the meat a little tough.

Wafu Steak – Tenderloin steak. One of my favorite dish. Meat is very tender & tasty.

Overall we enjoyed the food very much. Though on the pricier side, it’s one of the better Japanese buffet we have tried so far.

Manbook Galbi BBQ – Tanjong Pagar Road

We wanted to try another highly raved Korean bbq buffet at Tanjong Pagar but gave up when we saw the queue. Was trying to satisfy the birthday boy’s craving for meat & we chanced upon this place further across the road.

The side dishes that accompanied the meal.

Ikan Bilis – One of our favorite.

Kimchi – This is my favorite.

We ordered the Beef & Pork Set ($60) – Included in the set is 1 portion each of prime beef short ribs, beef short ribs, sliced pork belly & pork short ribs.

The pork short ribs are nicely marinated & very tasty. The staff there does the bbq for us & most of the time the meat were nicely cooked. We  also like the bbq king oyster mushroom with the meat.

They do provide a basket of fresh lettuce. It does help a bit to remove the greasy taste in your mouth. A healthier choice too perhaps.

Kimchi Soup ($12) – According to him, the kimchi soup tasted authentic. It’s a little too spicy for me though. It comes together with a bowl of rice.

There’s a smoke exhuast hood on top of every bbq stove. You can adjust the height of the hood higher or lower. This helps a lot in keeping the smell & smoke away from us. Though it’s pricier compared to the other Korean bbq joints, we enjoyed the quality meat & preferred the ambiance of this place.

Little Part 1 Cafe @ Jasmine Road

Was planning where to go for lunch on a sat afternoon & thought of this place. Hidden in a small road leading to some private estates, it’s not easy to find at all but we just love cafes like this.

A cozy & nicely decorated place. Nice place to hang out with friends or laze around with your partner.

His Mocha

Irish Beef Stew – According to their menu, it’s served only on weekends & stewed in guinness for 6 hours. Seriously, we can’t taste the guinness but it’s good. We rationed the gravy with the french loaf & was careful not to waste it. The beef chunks were tender & the accompanying carrots & potatoes were stewed to a certain softness.

Salmon Crepe – There’s onion, mushroom & mozzarella cheese together with the salmon. The crepes crispy at the sides & soft at the center & salmon was nicely marinated & tasted a little smoked. If you dislike onions like me, do remember to ask them to remove it.

Overall we enjoyed this simple meal although the service could have been faster. Another draw to this place is there’s no GST & service charge. Wondering if there will be Part 2 or Part 3 coming up soon? hmmm…

The Connoisseur Concerto (TCC) @ Bugis Junction

It’s his birthday month & he’s a card member of TCC so they mailed a birthday treat card to him. The birthday treat card entitled him to a 1 time 50% & a 1 time 30% off total bill.

Chocolate of Wealth ($8)

Minty Berry Yoghurt ($7.30)

Tako Skewer & Mentaiko Hotate ($14.90) – The tako skewer is chewy & not too tough. The mentaiko hotate tasted like scallop in baked mayonnaise which I like too.

Seafood Aglio Olio ($20.50) – The 1st time we had this, it was a little spicy but the 2nd time I ordered this, it was very spicy. I will still order this the next time for its huge, fresh & succulent prawns & scallops.

Baby Crayfish Spaghetti ($20) – We expected something more flavorful judging from the look of this dish. Not that it’s bad but just something lacking. They are definitely very generous with the baby crayfish.

For a coffee joint, the food exceeded my expectation. I enjoyed especially their appetizer. Will be back for more soon!

Bedrock Bar & Grill @ Pan Pacific Serviced Suites

Heard raves about the steak here so decided to visit this place on a Friday night both for good steak & to chill out.

Complementary Bread – Comes with butter & garlic clove soft enough to be spread on the bread. I didn’t try the garlic but it does look interesting to me. As for the bread, not very interesting to me.

Tomato Soup ($12)

Sauteed Mushroom ($15)

Bedrock Mac n’ Cheese ($15) - Looks cheesy but it’s actually abit plain & lacking in taste.

Tenderloin ($79) – u.s.d.a prime black angus 200g with accompanying hot whisky mustard sauce.

Ribeye ($89) – u.s.d.a prime black angus 400g. For the sauce, I opted for pinot noir reduction. The steak in the picture above is only 200g. We requested to split it into 2 portions & it was presented nicely on 2 separate hotplates for us.

Kahlua Croissant ($20) -Croissant soaked in sweet coffee liquor. Recommended by the waitress but we don’t really fancy it.

Crumble ($20)

Being a place well known for their steak, I guess you can either give the dessert here a miss or skip the above 2 desserts that we ordered.

One of my friend who ordered the tenderloin steak found it overly done & requested to change it, which they readily did. Great service here I must say.

The Wine Company @ Sentosa Boardwalk

Another birthday celebration at The Wine Company with great company, good wine & surprisingly scrumptious food.

The stain glass window from the interior helped to brighten up the place a little. Please do not be misled by the portion of food below with the price. We actually ordered double portion of almost everything.

Sausage Platter ($22.00)

Salt & Pepper Squid ($13)

Tomato & Mozzarella Skewer ($13) – Simple, plain.

Crabmeat Caesar Salad ($14) – Most of my friends like this. The sweetness of the crabmeat added flavor to the salad.

Fried Chicken Wings ($14) – Nothing fantastic. Shall give it a pass next time.

Wasabi Mayo Prawns ($13) – Hugh & succulent prawns with wasabi spread on the plate.

Steamed Mussels ($20) - Soaked in white wine sauce. We find it a tad too salty but overall the mussels are still fresh.

Smoked Duck ($11) – This is one of my favourite. Savory tender chunks of smoked duck.

All Day Breakfast ($16) – My friend ordered this. Guess she must have missed her breakfast that day.

Salami Pizza ($18)

Chocolate Molten Lava Cake ($11) – The finale for the night. Thick chocolate topped with coffee ice cream.

I was expecting this place to serve lots of wine & few finger food but it far exceeded my expectation. We were amazed at the creation of dishes available. They have pasta in their menu too. Definitely a great place to feast & chill out.
