Suggested this place for a big group gathering on a Sunday for lunch. Though our noise level can hardly be contained at times, the owner of this cafe was very accommodating & patient with us. Part of the cafe was transformed into a painting room for conducting some classes during mid of the day.

Ice Lemon Tea – They were having some lunch promotion. Every pasta ordered comes with a free drink.

vermillion prawns
Vermillion Prawns ($17.90) – Prawns linguine in tomato sauce, wine & lemon zest.

Etna @ Upper East Coast

Another year had gone. It’s his birthday again. Heard about this place from a friend some time ago & had finally decided to visit their branch at East Coast Road to celebrate this special occasion.

Complementary Bread – Not what I like. Kinda tough.

Sautée di Vongole ($16) – Clams sauteed in white wine sauce. The gravy tasted quite strongly of the wine and was a tad salty to drink on it’s own. Overall a nice appetiser.

Linguine con Capesante ($25) – Linguine with scallops with prawn cream sauce. I tried a bit of his pasta but didn’t really like it as it’s kinda sweet. Am glad that he likes it though.

Stinco di Agnello ($28) – Braised lamb shank in celery , carrot & olive sauce with mashed potatoes. I love this dish. The meat is tasty & tender. The savoury gravy makes the whole dish very appetising.

Torta al Cioccolato ($12) – Chocolate cake with almonds in Anglaise creme. Seriously we were quite disappointed that the Tiramisu & Lava Cake were sold out. Since it was his birthday, I just wanted a cake for him. This cake is a bit too much to chew on with the almond & it’s sticky texture.

We enjoyed our dinner with the nice quiet ambience of this place. Wanted to try their pizza but it’s too much for the both of us. Probably our next visit will be in a bigger group & I will try to reserve their Tiramisu & Lava Cake in advance too.

Peperoni Pizzeria @ Greenwood Ave

I was attracted to this place when my sister in law told me about the huge pizza they serve. So I took the chance to suggest this place for my friend’s birthday dinner celebration.

Apparently this place had been around for quite some time. A number of friends commented that they came here before when I posted my photos on facebook.

Prosciutto Crudo di Parma / Saucisson Pizza ($50) – We ordered the XXL size 21″ family pizza & chose 2 flavors. Half Prosciutto Crudo di Parma (parma ham & rocket salad) & half Saucisson (pepperoni, bell peppers, onions & roasted garlic). Both flavors are enjoyable but I personally preferred the parma ham. The crust is so thin, it feels like we’re munching on biscuits.

Frutti di Mare / Hawaiian Pizza ($50) – 2nd pizza that we ordered. Half Frutti di Mare (prawns, clams, scallops, squid rings & fish) & half Hawaiian (pineapple, ham & bell peppers). Hawaiian tasted very normal. Frutti di Mare is definitely more interesting since most of us are seafood lovers.

Incase you are wondering, there were 8 of us. The 2 pizzas with some calamari & fries filled our stomach just right. There’s no service charge & GST here & the bill came up to be very affordable for such yummy pizzas.

One thing to note, do remember to make your reservation in advance especially weekend.

Raw Kitchen Bar @ Upper Bukit Timah Road *Shifted*

Arranged a mini birthday celebration for him here with a group of close friends, since I had been wanting to visit this place. It used to be an old fire station & Raw Kitchen Bar looks like one of the old quarters that had been refurbished.

The interior of this place may easily be mistaken as someone’s house.

White Zucchini Pizza ($24)
– It’s not about the ingredient but the pizza in itself is yummy especially when eaten warm. I feel the cheese considerably thick as compared with the thin crust which is good in my opinion.

Nori Salmon ($24)
– Comes with wasabi mash & white wine mushrooms. I tasted abit & like the mash that has the wasabi flavor but not too spicy. The mushroom is tad too sour for me though. Overall is still nice.

Balsamic Duck ($26)
– Come with butter potatoes & sesame asparagus. My friend ordered this & I’ve forgotten how it tasted.

Sweet Marsala Wine Lamb Chops ($26)
– Comes with sweet potato mash.  The sauce makes the lamb taste sweet. Our friend enjoys it.

Squid Ink Rice ($19)
– Come with sauteed prawns, squid & egg yolk. I can’t finish this because there’s garlic in the rice! I enjoyed the tasty squid & succulent prawns though.

Lemon-zest Sweet Onion Sirloin Sandwich ($23)
 – Comes with fries. You can decide on the doneness of the steak.

Capellini Cream of Ebiko with Sauteed Prawns ($19)
– According to him, the prawns are fresh & succulent & he likes the flavor of the pasta. I feel the cream abit heavy so this portion is just right.

Fried Cheesecake with Strawberry Marmalade ($6)
– This is something unique & we really enjoyed it. Though there’s not much cheese taste but it does have a cheesy texture inside.

Classic Molten Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6)
– It’s his birthday cake for us to share. The outer cake layer is the thinnest I’ve came across so far. Something different. The choc lava is not very sweet. To me it’s not rich enough but is good enough for the price.

We like this place & will be back again. A quaint place in secluded location but be prepared for the mosquito attack. This place do provide insect repellent. Those who are more prone to bites, remember to spray it diligently.

23/11/2011 – Raw Kitchen Bar had shifted to 66 Kampong Bugis #02-01 & renamed themselves, now known as Kilo.
