Lady M @ Marina Square

lady m 1
lady m 2The 1st store to open outside of USA. Heard raves about it through magazines & the internet. Finally has a chance to try it.

Cafe Latte ($5)

vanilla mille crepes
Vanilla Mille Crepes ($7.50) – Made up of 20 layers of thin crepes & cream filling between each layer. Definitely hard work that’s not gone to waste. Very different from the normal sponge or cream cakes we usually have. Love it!

strawberry mille feuille
Strawberry Mille Feuille ($8) – Lots of cream with strawberries between flaky pastry. This tasted like strudel with very fresh cream.

After posting the photos on my Facebook, lots of comments & likes came in. Guess many people are aware & are waiting to try it. When we were there, the queue was short but I believe the queue will start coming soon. The other cake I would like to try the next time will be the Strawberry Shortcake. Guess it will be as good as the cakes we tried or hopefully with more surprises.

Cups N Canvas @ Selegie Road

Suggested this place for a big group gathering on a Sunday for lunch. Though our noise level can hardly be contained at times, the owner of this cafe was very accommodating & patient with us. Part of the cafe was transformed into a painting room for conducting some classes during mid of the day.

ice lemon tea
Ice Lemon Tea – They were having some lunch promotion. Every pasta ordered comes with a free drink.

Lobster Bisque ($6.50) – He ordered this. A tad salty but was nice & robust.

Calamari Rings ($6.90)

cheesy fries
Cheesy Fries ($6.90)

Beef N Burger ($10.90)

breakfast canvas
Breakfast Canvas ($16.90) – Includes bratwurst, sunny side up, roasted potatoes, mushrooms, grilled tomato, greens, toast & juice.

olive room
Olive Room ($12.90) – I wanted to have the fish n chips but he order this wrongly for me. It was a good mistake though. This pasta is simply tasty & with lots of my favorite mushrooms. It was gone within minutes.

greeno pesto
Greeno Pesto ($15.90) – Chicken, basil, baby potatoes linguine in pesto sauce.

vermillion prawns
Vermillion Prawns ($17.90) – Prawns linguine in tomato sauce, wine & lemon zest.

choc cake
Rich chocolate cake ($6.00)

We had a great time catching up in a cool place with tasty food. The food is definitely value for money. We will definitely recommend this place to our friends & will be back real soon.

Cafe Melba @ Goodman Arts Centre

Suggested here for a birthday celebration. It’s quite a child friendly place, spacious & with an outdoor inflatable bouncy castle.

Four Cheese Pizza 9″ ($18)

Lasagne ($18)

egg benedict

Crayfish Linguini ($26)

Not sure if it’s because I was too hungry, the pizza tasted really good. You can give the lasagne a miss though. Overall a nice place to hang out.

d’Good Cafe @ Holland Village

We were thrilled when his friends invited us to the opening of their cafe. Apparently, they are into some serious coffee business with the extensive investment of the equipments. He is rather enthusiastic & took quite a lot of photos. We also want to thank the host for touring us around this place.

The Lawn – Comfortable sitting area. Especially the swing near the window. It’s the favorite spot for many. There’s also magazines & newspaper available for leisure reading.

The Attic

The Balcony – Alfresco area

I’m not a coffee fan but these definitely look impressive.

The boss told us that he baked the cheese cake himself. We discovered another talent of him.

Chocolate Lava Cake

Caffe Latte ($5.60)

Matcha Red Bean Cake ($6)

Besides cake & muffin, we saw waffle & toast in their menu as well.

We went back a 2nd time wanting to sit at the swing area but it was already taken up. Guess we’ll have to be there earlier next time. Somehow this place gives a warmth homely feeling. A comfortable place to just laze around with some friends or a book.

Old School Delights @ Upper Thomson Road

It’s kinda interesting to see some of the things here that brings back memories of school days that had been forgotten.

His Mocha Cinno ($4.50) & my Ice Lemon Tea ($3.50).

Tuckshop Winglets ($5.50) – Very tasty & juicy. I was hesitating to order a 2nd serving but decided that I should save my stomach for some other food.

Pulut ($2.20) – Glutinous rice with hay bee hiam (spicy dried shrimps). This tasted very good too. Savoury & a little spicy.

Nasi Lemak ($6.90) – Rice infused with fresh coconut & pandan leaves. The chilli is supposed to be good but I don’t really fancy sweet chilli. The rice has a fragrant smell but not much taste seriously. The chicken wings, omelette, jumbo otah are good though.

Mee Siam ($5.50)

Chendol ($3.80) – The gula melaka is sweet yet not too over powering. We both love it. 1 of the best chendol we had in Singapore.

It didn’t really remind us of the food we had at our tuckshop during school days but some of the games does bring back fond memories. A thoughtful cafe concept.
