Celebration for him getting another year wiser. He is not so enthusiastic to celebrate it this year as he think he had just crossed the national youth age. Haha.
Lemmy Lemonade ($5) – I didn’t expect it in a bottle. The taste is just right. Neither too sour nor too sweet.
Golden Calamari Rings ($10.90) – Just right chewy calamari rings in lightly crisped beer batter, the perfect combination. Goes very well with the chilli mayo dip too.
Vegemite Glazed Chicken ($11.90) – We wanted to order the Mushroom Fritters but they ran out of it. So we substituted it with this. Unfortunately, the sauce is not to our liking as we find it too salty & there’s too much crispy bits on the skin.
Rokeby Chilli Mussels ($19.90) – You get to choose the spicy level from Zero, Mild, Hero to Legendary. We opted for Mild & it’s just right for us. The sauce is pleasantly savory, a tad sour from the tomatoes & lightly spicy. Totally satisfied with the generous serving of mussels.
Braised Ox Cheek Stew ($20.90) – The sauce is addictive. We took the bread served together with the mussels & wiped out this sauce. The mash potato is also velvety smooth. The star got to be the ox cheek. Tender & melts in the mouth, we crave for more of it.
Home Made Tiramisu with Bailey’s Irish Cream ($6.50) – In an occasion like this, a cake is a must. It’s more on the bitter side but we like it.
There’s no service charge or GST. The good food made up for the lack of ambiance. Glad that he enjoyed it.
Initially I felt kinda guilty as we were supposed to go somewhere else for high tea but due to my lack of diligence, we didn’t manage to make a reservation. So this place was kinda last min & reservation was only placed the night before. We were given the least romantic table near the entrance which made me even more guilty. The staff was nice & tried to change a table for us but due to some misunderstanding, we stayed put at our table. Guess what, the staff actually gave us a ‘special’ discount because of this. Not that we are hard up for it but we really appreciate their sincerity & kind gesture. Good customer service like this goes a long way. Kudos to Rokeby & their team!

It’s kinda interesting to see some of the things here that brings back memories of school days that had been forgotten.
His Mocha Cinno ($4.50) & my Ice Lemon Tea ($3.50).
Tuckshop Winglets ($5.50) – Very tasty & juicy. I was hesitating to order a 2nd serving but decided that I should save my stomach for some other food.
Pulut ($2.20) – Glutinous rice with hay bee hiam (spicy dried shrimps). This tasted very good too. Savoury & a little spicy.
Nasi Lemak ($6.90) – Rice infused with fresh coconut & pandan leaves. The chilli is supposed to be good but I don’t really fancy sweet chilli. The rice has a fragrant smell but not much taste seriously. The chicken wings, omelette, jumbo otah are good though.
Mee Siam ($5.50)
Chendol ($3.80) – The gula melaka is sweet yet not too over powering. We both love it. 1 of the best chendol we had in Singapore.
It didn’t really remind us of the food we had at our tuckshop during school days but some of the games does bring back fond memories. A thoughtful cafe concept.

Another birthday celebration at The Wine Company with great company, good wine & surprisingly scrumptious food.
The stain glass window from the interior helped to brighten up the place a little. Please do not be misled by the portion of food below with the price. We actually ordered double portion of almost everything.
Sausage Platter ($22.00)
Salt & Pepper Squid ($13)
Tomato & Mozzarella Skewer ($13) – Simple, plain.
Crabmeat Caesar Salad ($14) – Most of my friends like this. The sweetness of the crabmeat added flavor to the salad.
Fried Chicken Wings ($14) – Nothing fantastic. Shall give it a pass next time.
Wasabi Mayo Prawns ($13) – Hugh & succulent prawns with wasabi spread on the plate.
Steamed Mussels ($20) – Soaked in white wine sauce. We find it a tad too salty but overall the mussels are still fresh.
Smoked Duck ($11) – This is one of my favourite. Savory tender chunks of smoked duck.
All Day Breakfast ($16) – My friend ordered this. Guess she must have missed her breakfast that day.
Salami Pizza ($18)
Chocolate Molten Lava Cake ($11) – The finale for the night. Thick chocolate topped with coffee ice cream.
I was expecting this place to serve lots of wine & few finger food but it far exceeded my expectation. We were amazed at the creation of dishes available. They have pasta in their menu too. Definitely a great place to feast & chill out.

Read about this place from Vanilla Minuet‘s write up. Found out that Egg3 started as a lifestyle concept store at Erskine Road. While the owners were searching for new office location, they decided to incorporate the cafe into their retail store. It took us quite some time to find this place but we never regret it.
Saw price tags on some of the furnitures. Guess if you like the couch you sat on, you may decide to buy it home.
Ice Fruit Tea ($3.90) – Ordered ice tea becos we were perspiring while searching for this place. We still prefer fruit tea to be hot in a pot.
Fries with Cheese Dip ($3.80) – The seasoning is very tasty. Every stick of fries is well seasoned and crispy. I can still remember how good it tasted after 1 mth. That’s how good it is.
Chicken Wings ($4.90) – Nothing fantastic. Lacking in flavor.
Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6.50) – My favorite dessert again. The choc lava is just nice sweet. Though not the perfect one but it’s definitely value for money.
