Celebration for him getting another year wiser. He is not so enthusiastic to celebrate it this year as he think he had just crossed the national youth age. Haha.
Lemmy Lemonade ($5) – I didn’t expect it in a bottle. The taste is just right. Neither too sour nor too sweet.
Golden Calamari Rings ($10.90) – Just right chewy calamari rings in lightly crisped beer batter, the perfect combination. Goes very well with the chilli mayo dip too.
Vegemite Glazed Chicken ($11.90) – We wanted to order the Mushroom Fritters but they ran out of it. So we substituted it with this. Unfortunately, the sauce is not to our liking as we find it too salty & there’s too much crispy bits on the skin.
Rokeby Chilli Mussels ($19.90) – You get to choose the spicy level from Zero, Mild, Hero to Legendary. We opted for Mild & it’s just right for us. The sauce is pleasantly savory, a tad sour from the tomatoes & lightly spicy. Totally satisfied with the generous serving of mussels.
Braised Ox Cheek Stew ($20.90) – The sauce is addictive. We took the bread served together with the mussels & wiped out this sauce. The mash potato is also velvety smooth. The star got to be the ox cheek. Tender & melts in the mouth, we crave for more of it.
Home Made Tiramisu with Bailey’s Irish Cream ($6.50) – In an occasion like this, a cake is a must. It’s more on the bitter side but we like it.
There’s no service charge or GST. The good food made up for the lack of ambiance. Glad that he enjoyed it.
Initially I felt kinda guilty as we were supposed to go somewhere else for high tea but due to my lack of diligence, we didn’t manage to make a reservation. So this place was kinda last min & reservation was only placed the night before. We were given the least romantic table near the entrance which made me even more guilty. The staff was nice & tried to change a table for us but due to some misunderstanding, we stayed put at our table. Guess what, the staff actually gave us a ‘special’ discount because of this. Not that we are hard up for it but we really appreciate their sincerity & kind gesture. Good customer service like this goes a long way. Kudos to Rokeby & their team!

Was planning where to go for lunch on a sat afternoon & thought of this place. Hidden in a small road leading to some private estates, it’s not easy to find at all but we just love cafes like this.
A cozy & nicely decorated place. Nice place to hang out with friends or laze around with your partner.
Irish Beef Stew – According to their menu, it’s served only on weekends & stewed in guinness for 6 hours. Seriously, we can’t taste the guinness but it’s good. We rationed the gravy with the french loaf & was careful not to waste it. The beef chunks were tender & the accompanying carrots & potatoes were stewed to a certain softness.
Salmon Crepe – There’s onion, mushroom & mozzarella cheese together with the salmon. The crepes crispy at the sides & soft at the center & salmon was nicely marinated & tasted a little smoked. If you dislike onions like me, do remember to ask them to remove it.
Overall we enjoyed this simple meal although the service could have been faster. Another draw to this place is there’s no GST & service charge. Wondering if there will be Part 2 or Part 3 coming up soon? hmmm…

Chef Daniel Kitchen is definitely a great find in the cold & empty Iluma. Sharing the same level as the sky garden on the 7th floor, you are able to enjoy rooftop dinning overlooking the greenery.
Their set lunch is priced at $10.50 nett daily from 12noon to 3pm, inclusive of soup & dessert of the day. There’s a list of about 10 main courses to choose from.
Cream of Carrot – Soup of the day. It’s more on the sweet side.
Focaccia Bread – Complimentary bread that comes with the soup. This bread was also served for my stew. It is soft & fragrant. I asked for extra bread & they serve it to me with no extra charge.
Beef Stew – Served with carrot, celery & potato. The beef is done just right, not too tough. The stew is flavorful & very appetizing. I requested for more bread & emptied the bowl of stew.
Grilled Sirloin Steak – Served wth red wine sauce & fries. He asked for medium well. I thought the steak will be slightly tough but not at all. It’s chewy, juicy & goes very well with the sauce.
Apricot Strawberry Cake – Dessert of the day. The top layer is apricot mousse & middle layer is strawberry mousse. The mousse is not too sweet & slightly sour. Nice combination & unique in a good way. At the side of the plate is orange syrup presented in the form of a caviar. We had fun bursting this in our mouth.
I can feel the chef putting in a lot of effort in making the dishes enticing & interesting. The lunch set is really worth the money spent. We will definitely be back again.
