Once a year on this day, I get to choose a place for a special treat from him. To think of it, this might be our 1st high tea after all these years. We ordered both the Anti:dote tea set & the Oriental tea set at $38++ per set. The only difference between the 2 sets is with the appetizer.
We had a pot of TWG tea each from their wide selection & it’s refillable.
Black Truffle Scramble Egg – This comes with the Anti:dote tea set. The scramble egg is infused with truffle taste & is stored in the egg shell with the black truffle on top. Kinda waste to dip it with the bread stick. Preferred to eat the scramble egg on it’s own to savor the truffle taste.
Dim Sum – This comes with the Oriental tea set. Consist of shrimp har gau, chive dumpling & scallop siew mai. However both of us does not take chive & they gladly replaced the chive dumpling to another schrimp har gau for us.
Here’s the interesting chest of drawers. The top tier are the sweets, the 1st drawer are the savory, the 2nd drawer are scones & lemon pound cake, the last drawer not in the picture are the homemade strawberry jam, devonshire clotted cream & lemon curd for the scones & 2 take home cookies.
Well, both of us are really not sweet person. Tried very hard to finish all of it. Consisted of:
Strawberry gateau, raspberry, lychee pearl
Apple delight, almond crumble
Karukera chocolate mirror tart
Earl grey éclair
Anti:dote rum baba
Macaroon (tasted like lemon flavor to me)
Close up of the rum baba. An interesting dessert where you can adjust the liquor level according to your liking.
This is our favorite tier. Enjoyed most of them especially the lobster roll. The cucumber & dill salad, cream cheese tasted a bit weird though.
Consisted of:
Smoked salmon, crème fraîche, caviar
Boston lobster roll, herb mayonnaise
Cucumber and dill salad, cream cheese
Prosciutto, onion jam, aged cheddar
Coronation curried chicken
Both the scones & pound cakes are kinda dry. We just tasted a bit of each & left it there.
It’s a very visually appealing & interesting high tea set. Both of us enjoyed the appetizers & most of the savories. We decided that high tea is not really for us who does not really enjoy sweet stuffs. The sweet stuffs are just too overwhelming for us.
