The Cajun Kings @ Jalan Riang

cajun_king
Had been missing the boiling crabs from the US. A place where you dirty your fingers with food served in a bag & shells thrown on the table. To satisfy my craving, I suggested this place for a simple birthday dinner with him.

salt
The signature salt, pepper & lemon dip.

Fried Calamari ($8)

fries
TCK Combo ($65) – This combo comes with a bag of red sea prawns 500g, green lip mussels 250g, 6 sausages, 1 corn & a basket of cajun fries. We chose the Garlic Butter seasoning which is quite tasty. The only thing I don’t like is the sausage as I find it too salty. The 18 prawns are fresh & succulent.

Both of us are seafood lovers & we left the place satisfied. We walked in at 6.30pm without reservation on a Tuesday, we were given a table but were required to leave by 8pm. Which means the place is fully booked on a weekday so reservation is strongly recommended if you don’t want to leave this place disappointed.

Egg3 Cafe @ Mountbatten Road

Read about this place from Vanilla Minuet‘s write up. Found out that Egg3 started as a lifestyle concept store at Erskine Road. While the owners were searching for new office location, they decided to incorporate the cafe into their retail store. It took us quite some time to find this place but we never regret it.

Saw price tags on some of the furnitures. Guess if you like the couch you sat on, you may decide to buy it home.

Ice Fruit Tea ($3.90) – Ordered ice tea becos we were perspiring while searching for this place. We still prefer fruit tea to be hot in a pot.

Fries with Cheese Dip ($3.80) – The seasoning is very tasty. Every stick of fries is well seasoned and crispy. I can still remember how good it tasted after 1 mth. That’s how good it is.

Chicken Wings ($4.90) – Nothing fantastic. Lacking in flavor.

Lava Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream ($6.50) – My favorite dessert again. The choc lava is just nice sweet. Though not the perfect one but it’s definitely value for money.
